Thursday means that it is inspiration challenge day, and today is Inspiration Challenge 158. When I was going through photos picking out our inspiriton photos I came across this one and thought it would be great for a Veterans Day tribute.
I know that for many of us Vetrans Day is a day off from work, but have you ever really wondered why we celebrate Veterans day? Well, in 1918 during World War I an armistice was declared between Allied nations which happened on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Veterans Day did not become a holiday in the United States until 1938. There a several web sites that have information about Veterans day so to learn more just do a search for “Veterans Day” and pick which sites you would like to visit.
I know today is not Veterans Day, it is actually on Sunday this year and percisely at 11:00 a.m. the ceremony will begin at Arlington National Cemetery with a laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but most of us will be celebrating it on Monday. So make sure you take a few minutes out of your busy day to thank a Veteran in your life. I think that I am pretty much covered here…husband served in the Mariens, father and uncle served in the Army, brother-in-law served in the Air Force, uncle and grandfather served in the Navy, and nephew served in the Coast Guard, so I send out a BIG Thank You to all the veterans in my life.
