August 26th is National Dog Day! Here is just a little background information on Natioanl Dog Day. Founded in 2004 by Colleen Paige to honor our furry four legged friends. She did this in an effort to help the public to understand the real need of dogs that need to be rescued each year because of homelessness or being abused. Her intent was also to recognize family dogs in addition to all the working dogs that work selflessly each day to bring us comfort, keep us safe, and those that save lives. I currently have three four-legged babies, Zeus, Ginger, and Bigboy, our little Basset Hound family. Zeus tuned 14 this year, our New Year baby girl will be turning 13 (December 31/January 1) and our baby boy Bigboy will be 11 in mid October. Even with human babies, our four-legged babies grow up too quickly. I am planning on giving them some extra love today.
But I am also honoring my Dalmatian that I had for 13 plus years. I had to have him put down a few months before his 14th birthday…very sad day. He was well loved and very spoiled, but that is what your are suposed to do…right?!
This a scrapbook page that I made for "my man" Chief Jib Houdini. Jib was a "Houdini" for sure. He would get into or out of places that I though there would be no way that he could escape. Jib was a black-spotted dalmatian.
So of course my scrapbook for him is Basic Black and Whisper White. The stamp set that I used is Fire Brigade which is a retired Stampin' Up! set. Jib was already gone when I purchased this set, but I fell in love with it and knew that I could use it for his scrabook.
If you have any pets, please honor them today for National Dog Day, give them extra attention and love.
